Children's Choirs PDF Print E-mail

First Church provides two choirs for children that meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. as part of the Wonderful Wednesday program. Several adult helpers provide support and leadership in these choirs.

The youngest choir, Music  Friends, is for ages 3 - Kindergarten, and meets in Room 328 on the third level of the Education Building. At this young age, these children are learning that music is another way to praise our creator, while learning basic music and life lessons such as listening, singing on pitch, singing as a group -- all while having a lot of fun doing it! The curriculum for this choir is Bible-based and offers more than just music education; it provides opportunities for our youngest singers to learn more about Jesus' love and how they can come to know him better.

The older children's choir, Young Musicians, is offered for children in Grades 1 - 5. They meet in the Chancel Choir rehearsal room on the third level of Heritage Hall. This group is learning musical skills that can provide a good foundation for them as they grow into older musicians. Their curriculum is also Bible-based, but it is designed to help them begin to see beyond themselves and their little world. There are many opportunities to stretch their minds through more in-depth missions stories, hands-on mission projects, Bible connections, and both our traditional hymns and more current contemporary pieces.
